Perfect, only if you are

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

I think it’s not too much to ask for, to want to look for someone perfect. That is of course, if you deem yourself to be perfect.

I know I’m not perfect. It’ll be asking for a little too much to want someone who is perfect when I’m not. Everyone has his / her little flaws. It’s normal for the opposite sex to have them too. There has to be a compromise somewhere along the line. Perhaps you find certain points / criteria more important than others, and so you rank them high on the priority list. As it goes down, the willing-ness to compromise of the not so high priority list gets better. I’m pretty much sure the other party would feel that way too.

Some may go all out to discard the qualities which are compromised, and thus end up with their perfect partner. It’s probably like having a basket of apples, throwing out all the rotten ones, and saying that you’ve got a basket of perfect apples. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. As long as you are happy doing it that way, that’s good. Hey, it’s your life, isn’t it. Might as well be happy with what you are doing.

For me, I’ll go with compromise. Only difference is how much I would compromise. Perfect would be a bonus.

it’s funny that the suggested topic is about love. i think about that a lot.. but up until fairly recently.. i had a quite extensive time of not dating anyone at all. (for somewhere around the past 6-7 years)

i do think that there is an ‘almost perfect’ match for everyone… but all relationships require work from both sides. i think that ‘perfect person’ would not be perfect.. but have a soft heart… ready to change and compromise and love throughout all those times when it’s the hardest to love. a relationship is not one-sided. a relationship is not without conflict. a relationship cannot survive without a continual love even through conflict.

i also believe that it’s possible to love someone even when you don’t like them sometimes.

FFAF October

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Tomorrow (10/28) is Free-For-All Friday! Free for All means you can post whatever you want on my blog. Say what you want to say, share a link, complain about household appliances, etc…all you have to do is login and post!

If you can’t think of anything to write, I’ll offer a topic for this month: What are your feelings on finding a person that you love? Do you think that unless a person is perfect for you, they could never be the one for you? Or do you think that nobody’s perfect, so you figure you’ll eventually have to compromise on certain things? I’m really interested in hearing what a few of you fel about the subject.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to http://www.pinkeyedjim.com/wp-login.php
  2. Register an account. If you don’t want to register (but I strongly urge you to do so), feel free to use the guest account below.
  3. If you want to post but not register :Login/Password: guest/freeforall
  4. Click on the “Write” tab on the top left of your screen
  5. Enter a title, check the box for the category “Free for All.” Make sure all other categories are unchecked
  6. Type what you want to type in the box called “Post”
  7. When you’re done, click “Publish”

Rules:

  1. Please keep it somewhat clean…if you don’t think I would post it, don’t. God forbid if I find spam or (non-free) porn links…
  2. Feel free to link your blog or site, so long as it’s not the sort of site that would get you in trouble regarding rule #1…
  3. I reserve the right to edit/delete inappropriate posts (or those with really obvious spelling mistakes)
  4. Do not edit the guest user profile or I will eat your children.
  5. Have fun!
  6. Check out some of these other cool FFAF blogs.

Marijuana Smoking not Lung Cancer Risk, U of CO Report Shows

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

This is from Yahoo! News:

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Although both marijuana and tobacco smoke are packed with cancer-causing chemicals, other qualities of marijuana seem to keep it from promoting lung cancer, according to a new report.

That’s right. No cancer risk.

It turns out that THC doesn’t activate a certain enzyme that nicotine does. This enzyme apparently “converts certain chemicals in both tobacco and marijuana smoke into cancer-promoting form.” Actually THC blocks its production.

So what’s the problem with smoked marijuana as medicine? I thought lung cancer was the only problem. If it doesn’t cause lung cancer, why don’t we simply legalize marijuana as a medicine?

What’s the answer?

Join NORML. I did.

News that should make you shudder

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

Today has been quite a busy day in the news. Quite a few things have scared me. I’m going to post those for you.

WASHINGTON Oct 13, 2005 — It was billed as a conversation with U.S. troops, but the questions President Bush asked on a teleconference call Thursday were choreographed to match his goals for the war in Iraq and Saturday’s vote on a new Iraqi constitution.

Gah!

WASHINGTON - A top CIA manager who remains undercover will soon oversee traditional human spying activities for the entire intelligence community, a position created in the post-Sept. 11 intelligence overhaul.

Publicly, he is referred to simply as “Jose.”

His posting as director of the new National Clandestine Service ends weeks of debate over whether the CIA would retain its primacy over the government’s traditional human spywork, as an increasing number of U.S. national security agencies take on these types of assignments.

Jose will now broadly coordinate operations for the CIA, FBI, Defense Department and other agencies involved in human intelligence, or the information gathered by people, rather than by technical means.

Eek!

PITTSBURGH Oct 13, 2005 — A woman clubbed her pregnant neighbor over the head with a baseball bat, drove her to the woods and cut her belly with a knife in an attempt to steal her baby, police say.

Ugh!

Al Qaeda in Iraq said Thursday a letter purportedly from Osama bin Laden’s top lieutenant to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is a fake, according to a statement on several Islamist Web sites.

While not exactly scary per se, it is at least interesting to note in relation to the first article.

I hope tomorrow goes a little better.

Guess who’s still alive?

So, waaay back at the end of July I posted on what my goals were for the coming month of August, and I didn’t update for the entire month of September, so I thought I’d update on those for starters. The goals were:

  • Writing a buisness plan - 20 pages or so.
  • Working on improvements, upgrades, and additions to this site.
  • Working on improvements and a gradual opening of www.cookingwithweed.com
  • Working on improvements and uploading some articles to www.newbrunswickblunt.com

Well, as of today, none of those goals are complete.

However, I have hardly been a lazy bum or anything. I’ve simply taken a near full time job at Rutgers Club along with a second job one day a week down in Lawrenceville at Glendale Liquors. The internet access in this house has also been sporadic at best, and then finally, my living room was rearranged and I now can’t reach my router with my ethernet cable. Luckily I have my laptop working wirelessly.

Anyway, I have a few more goals that I’ve set, I’ll list those now.

  • Update this thing, two or three times a week
  • Update to WordPress 1.5.2
  • Write some humor pieces again

That’s about it for now. I plan on updating this before the end of the weekend.

Absenteeism

Where oh where has my little Jim gone?
Oh where oh where can he be?
With his hair cut, er, bald and his his, well, you know, cut long,
Oh where oh where can he be?
