Estelle Getty, whose acting career bloomed late in life with her Emmy-winning performance as Sophia Petrillo, the wise-cracking mother of Bea Arthur on the popular NBC sitcom “The Golden Girls,” died Tuesday. She was 84.

She will be sorely missed. And Lifetime Network is airing a Golden Girls Marathon dedicated to Estelle from 12 PM - 5 PM on this Friday, July 25.

Ok guys, if you must smoke pot, please don’t do things like this.

Authorities in Texas have filed corpse-abuse charges against two men who allegedly removed a skull from a grave and used it as a bong.

One of the men allegedly told police they dug up a grave in an abandoned cemetery in the woods, removed a head from a body and smoked marijuana using the skull as a bong.

No matter how good of an idea it sounds like at the time. Just go get some munchies instead.

While I was googling all sorts of travel stuff last night looking for copies of my Leiden Coffeeshop Reviews, I came upon a nice little blog, called “Absorbing the World.” Being a blogger myself (shocked?), I thought I should let you folks know about this “Youngish Lad’s” blog. He’s a British expatriate living and working in Bangkok. His Adventure Travel Blog is all about his various travels, but also about ways that he makes money online to pay for all of his trips. I thought that he put a nice little spin on your basic travel blog, and he’s got some really interesting articles, whether you’re into making money online or if you’re just into Adventure Travel in general, I advise you to take a look at Absorbing the World.

Well, I was doing a little reading of older articles on my blog, and I ran a google search for “Leiden Coffeeshop” which I used to rank quite high for, but have fallen far down the page. However, If you look at what is currently the seventh site in the list you’ll come upon this:

Well well, that text looks mighty familiar to me. I have the strangest feeling I’ve seen it before somewhere. Oh, that’s right… I wrote it.

I’m offended and flattered at the same time. Some hostel company, in another hemisphere, with offices about a half hour away from the coffeeshops I reviewed, decided that my reviews were so good, that they should simply use the first paragraphs of two of them in their Ezine.

Well, I’m hoping that this can be resolved in a nice way. I’m thinking that if they place a link to my site in their “cool sites” section, then there will be no reason to push the fact that they’ve been illegally using my content for nearly two years now.

I also find it funny that even when I run the exact article into copyscape, it returns no results.

I went to the Problogger Meetup at The Speakeasy on Amsterdam Ave in New York last night. It was a fun trip - the first time I’ve ever ventured in to New York without even a friend and it was a lot of fun. I got four free drinks (three compliments of Chitika, one compliments of Abby, the cute bartender) and I talked to a few interesting folks. Most notably of the bunch were of course Darren himself, but also Aaron Brazell of b5media, Perry Klaussen at Hoboken411.com, Nick O’Neill from Capital Interactive, and Adam Edwards from HitTail.

It was a great night, and I enjoyed the company of everyone I met. I’m looking forward to the next one.
